Multilingual terminology databases

Everyone who is concerned with technical translation understands the importance of the consistency of terms and accuracy of translation as the basis of a good translation. Under the consistency of terms we understand that each term is translated uniformly throughout the document. Adequacy and consistency of terminology are indispensable in maintaining not only technical correctness of the document but also the clarity of the translation.

Usually all the terminology, specific for the project is gathered in a special terminology database (TDB), which can be multilingual.

Usage of TDB

Here at STAR SPB we make a great use of TDB, every technical translation project implies such a base. Besides the consistency of the current project it allows us to use the same terminology in our next projects for this customer.

Creating TDB to customer's order

Our company has great experience in creating term databases for our clients on the basis of the previous projects, even if the translation had been done outside STAR SPB and even outsideSTAR group. We can create multilingual TDB with any number of European languages.

Due to special software developed within STAR SPB creating TDB takes very little time. The database can include any additional information on the term - examples, paradigm, synonyms and so on.
