Supported languages

Transit can work with any language, supported by Windows. For example:

European languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Catalan, Turkish;
East European languages: Russian, Check, Slovak, Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, Ukrainian, Belorussian;
Asian languages: Japanese, Chinese (simplified/traditional), Korean, Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese.

Besides Transit supports Arabic and some language varieties (French Canadian, Brazil Portuguese, American English and so on). Please note that you can translate from any supported language into any other.

Spellcheck

Spellcheckers are available for the following languages: Afrikaans, Danish, German, English, Finnish, French, Greek, Dutch, Italian, Catalan. Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Spanish, Czech, Hungarian.

Quality control

During the process of translation Transit helps to maintain the consistency and accuracy of terminology and style. After finishing the translation you can do a number of extra checks to ensure that the whole text was translated and the quality is high:

terminology consistency check;
formatting information integrity check;
spellchecker;
number format and measure unit checks;
and lots more.

Working in team

Transit has all network features. During the work every member of the group can use the information, gathered by his colleagues, because it is distributed automatically among the members of the project group. It helps to solve many problems, that arise in the course of team work. Using different translations for one source word or translating standard recurring phrases differently becomes impossible.

Supported formats

Transit has two-way interfaces with many popular publishing software and word processors. It saves the translator the trouble of studying different software and allows him or her to work in the same convenient and familiar user interface.

Support for other formats you work with can be supplied to your order. Besides, the collection of filters, that allows to work with specific formats is constantly growing.

Compatibility

Compatibility is an important Transit feature. You need not worry about the future of your Transit particularies, because:

all the formats used are fully open and standard. That is, you can use your Transit data in the systems by other suppliers;
patented formats are not used;
we guarantee the back compatibility of Transit data in the new versions of Transit;
support of international TMX standard allows to share the data with other TM software.

Specialised editor

Transit has a built-in text editing interface, tailored for the translator convenenience. It has following distinctive features.

Multidocument interface: in Transit you can work with several documents at a time.
Multiwindow structure:several windows: source, translation, dictionary, translators comments etc. are available for every document
Automatic synchronisation of the original text, translation text, dictionary window and translator's comment window. The text is formatted to fit in the window, and all the information, required for translation is always present on the screen.
Multicolour highlighting different text fragments (translated text, formatting information etc.).
Emulation of the commands of such popular word processors as Microsoft Word and Word Perfect. If you are familiar with one of these products - you are fit to work in the built-in Transit editor.
Simultaneous operation on several files. For example, you can apply the Find/Replace command to all the files of the project.
Monitoring the state of text segments (e.g.: not translated, translated automatically, translated manually).
Bookmarking the points, that caused difficulty when translating, and a possibility to leave a comment.
Text filters. You can leave visible only the segments, satisfying some criteria: for example, containing the word "window" or "frame", but without the word "format" and other functions. It makes translator's work comfortable and effective. Segments can be also filtered by translator's or project manager's comments.
Concordance. Concordance is a tool for searching the translation memory. Concordance's difference from a traditional search is that it takes very little time to search all the translation memory and one does not need to open the files.

Transit system requirements

IBM PC compatible computer with processor Intel Pentium 350 MHz or higher;
Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP;
main memory: minimum 64 Mb for Windows 98/NT/2000/ME/XP (128 Mb recommended);
free hard disc space: 80 Mb;
colour SVGA monitor with resolution no less than 800x600 pixels.

Transit supports all popular networks: Windows NT, Novell Netware, IBM LAN, SUN NFS.
